Pastor Kevin T. Taylor

We Welcome
You To
Israel AME Church

Founded in 1828 in Albany, Israel is the oldest Black church in Upstate New York. It was also a station on the Underground Railroad, a network of the network of people and places offering shelter and aid to enslaved people from the South. Israel’s motto, “Making History and Disciples Since 1828,” is a reference to its historic past and its present emphasis on demonstrating the matchless love of Jesus Christ and drawing people to Him. Israel is pastored by the Rev. Kevin T. Taylor, the shepherd leader since June 2021, who is working diligently to prepare the congregation for its third century of ministry in the Albany community and beyond. Join us for morning worship each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. and for Bible Study on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. Services are hybrid: in-person by pre-registering and via Zoom or dial (646) 558-8656 and use Meeting ID: 812 8622 8670 and PW: 381379.

A Message from the Pastor

As you may know, President Biden lifted the federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency on May 11,2023. As a result, starting June 1, masks on Israel’s properties and social distancing are optional, and pre-registration for morning worship isstrongly encouraged. All three measures were required heretofore. Make no mistake about it, though: COVID-19 is still a dangerous disease which people are contracting, being hospitalizedfor and, unfortunately, still are succumbing to. Therefore, we continue to ask those who are ill or immunocompromised toworship with us virtually via Facebook Live or Zoom. We also ask that in-person worshippers continue to register in advanceor onsite so that contract-tracing can commence in the event of a positive COVID-19 case at our church. To put a finer point on it, the relaxation of COVID-19 protocols does not mean that we will return to “business as usual.”We will remain vigilant and revisit our policies as new information becomes available – and strongly encourage everyonein our church family and extended family to stay up-to-date on your COVID-19 vaccine and boosters. Further, asthe2023-24 First District theme suggests, “The Church is Moving On.” We will do this by continuing to reimagine, re-envision andtransition from our former ways to the next that God has promised and is preparing for us according to Isaiah 43: I 8- 19.

“I am the resurrection and the life.
The one who believes in me will live, even though they die;"
~ John 11:25

Great Is The Lord &
Greatly To Be Praised!

Founded because of social injustice, the AME Church envisions, “At every level of the Connection and in every local church, the AME Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the AME Church evolved: that is, to seek out and save the lost, and to serve the needy”

AME Church Mission

Our Mission is to minister to the social, spiritual, and physical development of all people

THE VISION

At every level of the Connection and in every local church, the AME Church shall engage in carrying out the spirit of the original Free African Society, out of which the AME Church evolved: that is, to seek out and save the lost, and to serve the needy. It is also the duty of Church to continue to encourage all members to become involved in all aspects of church training.

THE PURPOSES

The ultimate purposes are:
1 – make available God’s biblical principles,
2 – spread Christ’s liberating gospel, and
3 – provide continuing programs which will enhance the entire social development of all people.

THE OBJECTIVE

In order to meet the needs of every level of the Connection and in every local church, the AME Church shall implement strategies to train all members in: (1) Christian discipleship, (2) Christian leadership, (3) current teaching methods and materials, (4) the history and significance of the AME Church, (5) God’s biblical principles, and (6) social development to which all should be applied to daily living.

A Season of Giving

For God loves a cheerful giver.
“Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.”

~ 2nd Corinthians 9:7
